Manny Peña, RHIA

Chairman & Chief Executive Officer

30+ years of Health Information Management (H.I.M.) experience, with a passion for technological advancements and recognizing H.I.M.’s needs and challenges. Manny founded Pena4 in 1998. Since inception the company has provided services to over 100+ hospitals throughout the U.S. and Puerto Rico, with its core services of Coding & Data Quality. Currently Pena4 employs hundreds of ICD-9 & ICD-10 Hospital medical coders.

Joseph J. Gurrieri, RHIA, CHP

President & Chief Operations Officer

25+ years of Health Information Management (H.I.M.) experience with over a dozen consulting interim management / director roles in New Jersey Hospitals. With his strengths in process design, workflow, and information technology, Joseph was also the brain fund behind the development and implementation of several software applications. Education includes Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) and Certified in Private Healthcare (CHP) from AHIMA and a Bachelor’s degree in H.I.M. from SUNY Health Science Center.

Eileen Peña

Corporate Chief Financial Officer

15+ years of Finance and Business Management experience with a focus on marketing, human resources and finances. Eileen is highly creative, recognized as a results-oriented and solutions-focused individual. Her strengths in financial analysis, budgeting, cash management, and internal and external reporting make her a valuable asset to Pena4. Education includes a Bachelor of Science from Penn State University.

Paul Strafer, RHIA, CCS

Senior Director, Client Services & Development | Privacy Officer

10+ years of Health Information Management (H.I.M.) experience including ROI, DNFB Management, and medical coding. Paul is responsible for ensuring that all client expectations and deliverables are achieved. His wide variety of health information experience and passion for continuing education in the evolving field of healthcare makes him a valuable asset to Pena4. Education includes a Bachelor's in Technical Management from Devry University and certification from AHIMA as an ICD-10 Trainer, RHIA and CCS.

Caroline DeLaCruz, B.S., RHIT, CCS-P, CPC

Manager, Comprehensive Outpatient Revenue Integrity Services

Caroline’s previous role was with New York Presbyterian/Lawrence Hospital where she was a Coding Supervisor responsible for overseeing coders and coding coordinators, daily coding operations and workflow, monitored the inpatient and outpatient DNFB report, collaborated with CDI to review DRG mismatches, participated in the upgrade of encoder and computer-assisted coding, implemented and led the transition of the telecommuting coding program, and initiated and implemented work flow processes for the departments CDM. She joined Lawrence Hospital in 2013 as a Coding Coordinator. During her H.I.M. career, she held various titles such as Compliance Coding Analyst/Team Leader, OPD/Coding Consultant, Director of Coding, Manager of H.I.M. Hospital Sponsored Ambulatory Services, Clinical Data Coordinator, and Manager of Medical Records Department.

Cassie Matranga, RHIT, CCS

Director, Coding, Quality Assurance, and Education

Cassie Matranga has over 30 years of experience and thorough understanding of HIM technology systems including many encoders and EMR systems. Cassie has worked at Pena4 Inc. for nearly 8 years and currently serves as a Director, Coding, Quality Assurance, and Education. Cassie holds an Associate’s Degree in Fine Arts from Kingsborough Community College. In addition, she holds a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certificate and Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certificate from American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). She is also an AHIMA-Approved ICD-10 Trainer. Prior to joining the Pena4 team she worked as a QA Specialist in Meridian Health Systems, Jersey Shore University Medical Center division. Cassie has held many positions in various acute care hospitals within the tristate area, building her HIM career from inpatient and outpatient coder to Director of Coding, Data Quality and Education. She was instrumental in the implementation of a CDI program with Meridian Health Systems, while managing a full clinical coding platform conversion. Cassie has an advanced understanding of most current HIM technology systems available. Cassie’s ability to comprehend and break down any process issue and transform that issue into a solved problem is unparalleled. She is not only a coding and auditing expert, but a true problem solver, and she is dedicated to ensuring that all of Pena4’s clients are satisfied with the quality of the work that is delivered.

Richie Peña

Vice President of Business Development

17+ years of experience in business development, human resources, training and consulting. Richie’s primary focus is to build awareness about Pena4’s unique capabilities among prospective clients, and develop and maintain relationships with current and new clients.

Carrie Harris

Human Resources Director

Carrie Harris brings over 15 years of Human Resources experience to Pena4, Inc.  Carrie has extensive experience in global Human Resources including Talent Acquisition, Benefits, and HR Management.  She has a strong focus on organizational and leadership development, as well as process improvement.  Prior to joining Pena4, Inc., she worked as a Global Staffing Program Manager with Avago Technologies (formerly LSI Corporation and Agere Systems).  Over the last 15 years, Carrie has held other various HR positions including HR Business Partner and Compensation and Benefits Manager.

Deb Tetreault, RHIT, CHIM (Canada)

Regional Director, Coding & Consulting Services

30+ years of Health Information Management (H.I.M.) experience with a focus in data collection, data quality monitoring and data standard development within the U.S. and Canada. With AHIMA certifications in both the U.S. and Canada, Deb has expertise in developing data quality tools and educational resources, and is also considered a subject matter expert with the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA) and the Ontario Health Information Management Association (OHIMA).
